Mekong Quilts Welcomes September with Hope & Resilience

As September dawns upon Mekong Quilts, our organisation finds itself at an interesting juncture in its journey. It’s a time when we look back at the challenges faced, appreciate the progress made, and eagerly anticipate the opportunities that lie ahead. September signifies a fresh start, and at Mekong Quilts, it’s embraced wholeheartedly.

Navigating Fragile Economies and Rainy Days

The world remains a place of economic uncertainty, with challenges and uncertainties affecting businesses large and small. The past summer has been particularly demanding for Mekong Quilts. The rainy season, with its downpours and unpredictable weather, presented its own set of challenges. Foot traffic in our Saigon shop slowed, as fewer visitors explored the vibrant streets of Ho Chi Minh City in search of handmade treasures. Yet, even in the face of these difficulties, the team remained resilient.

As September is here and the festive season (usually good for Mekong Quilts) approaches, there is a sense of optimism in the air. Our organisation hopes that the business will pick up with both the end of the rainy season in South Vietnam & the Christmas celebrations, and that our artisans’ creations will find their way into the homes and hearts of people from around the world. This is a season of transition and renewal, and Mekong Quilts is excited to welcome it with open arms.

Boosting Production and Empowering Artisans

At the heart of Mekong Quilts are the skilled artisans who craft these beautiful, hand-stitched creations. With the return of former artisans who lost their job during the pandemic and the addition of new talents to the team, Mekong Quilts  is in the midst of a productive phase. The months leading up to the holiday season are always busy as we are busy preparing quilts, quilted coats, and our bamboo Christmas tree and Christmas accessories.

These products, carefully made with love and dedication, are not just pieces of fabric stitched together. They are stories woven with colourful threads, each stitch representing the skill and creativity of our artisans. As customers browse through the collection, they’ll not only discover beautiful quilts but also the spirit and culture of the Mekong Delta.

Meet the Quilter: An Intimate Glimpse into the Craft

As a part of the ongoing commitment to transparency and connection with customers, Mekong Quilts is excited to announce “Meet the Quilter” events. These gatherings, which take place once a month, offer a unique opportunity for customers to see the artisans in action.

During these events, lead quilters come to our shop in Saigon’s Pasteur Street to work on the final touches and corrections to their quilts, and customers are invited to watch and ask questions. It’s a chance to get an intimate glimpse into the creative process behind our products.

We believe that understanding the craftsmanship that goes into each quilt enhances the appreciation of the final product. Our artisans pour their hearts and souls into their work, and “Meet the Quilter” events allow us to share their dedication and passion with our customers.

Bamboo Bicycle Tours: Pedal Through the Heart of Vietnam

As September ushers in a delightful change in weather, our Bamboo Bicycle Tours are about to get busy! There’s no better way to explore the scenic beauty of Vietnam than on these eco-friendly rides.

La Rentrée de Mekong Quilts: A New Beginning

In French, “La Rentrée” signifies a return, a coming back after a period of rest or vacation. It’s a time to resume work, school, and regular activities. As September arrives, Mekong Quilts embraces it as a new beginning.

This September, Mekong Quilts looks ahead with hope and resilience, ready to face the challenges that may arise and to celebrate the successes, both big and small. Customers are invited to join us on this journey, to explore our physical shop and our website www.mekongquilts.com, to meet the artisans, and to take home a piece of Vietnam with them.

In the coming months, there will be exciting new products to share with you, including special Christmas-themed items that make for unique and thoughtful gifts. And rumour has it that we might be opening a new store in Hanoi, so stay tuned and follow-us on Facebook or subscribe to our newsletter on www.mekongquilts.com.

As September is welcomed, it is done so with gratitude for the continued support we have been receiving from you all. The choice to purchase from Mekong Quilts is a gift that gives twice, as not only it brings beauty into the life of the person who receives a Mekong Quilts’ present but it also contributes to the livelihood of our talented artisans.
